Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 13, 2026
This policy applies to the iOS app Rarity: Antique Identifier (bundle ID com.wlmarketing.rarity), published by WL Online Marketing LLC (“we”, “us”).
In short:
- To identify an item, Rarity sends the photos you scan and any notes you add to our server. Our server shows the main photo to Google Lens to find similar listings, deletes its copy right after, and asks OpenAI’s AI model to identify and value the item. It asks your permission the first time.
- Your collection and scan history are stored on your iPhone, not on our servers.
- Rarity has no accounts and no ads, never sells your data, and doesn’t ask to track you.
Photos, notes and identification
When you scan an item, Rarity sends the photos you took or picked (reduced in size) and the notes you typed to our server at rarity.appholdings.org over an encrypted connection. To identify and value the item:
- the main photo is stored on our own storage server for a few seconds so that Google Lens can look at it through our search provider, ScrapingDog, and find similar items for sale on the web. We delete the photo as soon as the search returns;
- the photos, your notes and the similar listings are sent to OpenAI, whose AI model writes the identification, value estimate and authenticity tips. Under OpenAI’s API terms this data isn’t used to train their models; OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse;
- we keep a copy of the result (not the photos) in our server’s memory for up to 7 days so that scanning the same photo again gives the same answer.
When you ask the expert a question about an item, the question, the conversation so far and the item’s details are sent the same way to OpenAI to write the answer. We don’t store your questions.
To keep the service fair we count scans per day per device and per network address. The device count uses a one-way hash of Apple’s app-specific device identifier (identifier for vendor); counts are kept in memory and reset every day.
Values are estimates based on similar listings and general market knowledge. They are not professional appraisals.
Your collection
Saved items, your scan history, your notes, prices you paid and your photos are stored in Rarity’s storage on your iPhone. They are included in your iPhone backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) according to your own backup settings, so they move to a new iPhone you set up from a backup. Deleting an item or the app removes it from your device. When you share or export an item, iOS hands it to the app you choose.
Camera and photos
Rarity uses the camera only while you scan, and the photo picker only for the photos you choose. It doesn’t ask for access to your whole photo library.
Purchases
Rarity Pro subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple; we never see your payment details. Apple gives the app signed transaction information (product, purchase and expiry dates, transaction IDs), which we use to unlock Pro and to measure sales, and sends us App Store Server Notifications about renewals, cancellations and refunds. If you start a free trial and allow notifications, Rarity reminds you the day before the trial ends with a local notification.
Analytics and ad measurement
Rarity uses ACAnalytics, our own analytics service, to understand how the app is used and which of our ads lead to installs and subscriptions. It collects:
- an app-scoped device identifier (identifier for vendor) and an install identifier;
- app version, iOS version, device model, and the language, region and currency settings of your device;
- the IP address your device connects from, and the approximate location (country, region, city and postal code) that our hosting provider, Cloudflare, derives from it;
- in-app events, such as finishing onboarding, starting or finishing a scan, saving an item or viewing the subscription screen, with item categories and counts only (never your photos, notes or chat text);
- App Store transaction and product IDs of your purchases, and Apple’s App Store receipt;
- an Apple Search Ads attribution token, which tells us which Search Ads campaign, if any, led to the install.
We advertise Rarity on Facebook and Instagram. To measure those ads, Rarity includes Meta’s Facebook SDK, which (when we have turned it on for the app) sends Meta the following app events: the app being opened, a free trial starting and a subscription purchase with its price and currency, together with app and device information such as app version, iOS version, device model and IP address. Meta uses these events to report and improve the performance of our ads under its own privacy policy. Rarity doesn’t use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and doesn’t ask to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
Sharing
We don’t sell personal information. We share data only with service providers that process it for us (ScrapingDog and Google for the image search, OpenAI for AI processing, Cloudflare for analytics hosting), with Meta for ad measurement as described above, with Apple for purchases, or when the law requires it.
Children
Rarity is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
Your choices and rights
You can decline the AI permission (Rarity then can’t identify items), turn the camera off for Rarity in iOS Settings, delete items or the whole app at any time, and turn notifications off. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, or to object to its processing. Because Rarity has no accounts, email us from the app (Settings › Contact support) so we can find your data, and we will respond within 30 days.
Security and international transfers
Data sent to our services travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate.
Changes
We will update this page when the app’s data practices change and revise the effective date above.
