How do I get the best result?
Photograph the whole item in good light against a plain background, then add close-ups of any maker’s mark, signature, label or stamp (usually on the base or the back). If you can read a mark, type it in Add details. Rarity uses up to four photos and your notes for one item.
How is the value estimated?
Rarity searches the web for similar items with Google Lens, then its AI appraiser compares your item with those listings and with what it knows about the maker, era and condition. You see the range, the reason, and the listings it used, so you can check them yourself. Asking prices are usually higher than what items actually sell for, and condition matters a lot. Every value is an estimate, not a professional appraisal; for anything that could be worth more than about $1,000, ask a certified appraiser before you sell.
The answer looks wrong. What can I do?
Open the item and tap Improve result: add a photo of the mark or base, or type what you know (for example “marked Roseville USA 22-8”), and Rarity scans again with that information.
Is it real or a reproduction?
Each result lists checks you can do at home and the usual signs of a reproduction for that kind of item. A photo can’t prove authenticity on its own; when real money is at stake, have the piece examined in person.
Where is my collection? What if I get a new iPhone?
Your collection is stored on your iPhone and included in your iCloud or computer backup. Set up a new iPhone from that backup and your collection comes with it. You can also export your collection as a spreadsheet from the Collection tab.
